Singletrack Heaven in Germantown
Tucked into the suburban landscape of Germantown, Tennessee, the Lick Creek Trail System is Memphis's best-kept cycling secret. Over 10 miles of hand-built singletrack wind through dense hardwood forest, offering flowing turns, natural obstacles, and the kind of immersive trail experience you'd expect to find in mountain country — not the Mid-South flatlands.
Trail Character
Lick Creek is a volunteer-built trail system, and that community spirit shines through in every berm, bridge, and switchback. The trails feature a variety of flow sections and technical challenges that reward both beginners and experienced riders. Multiple loops of varying lengths let you customize your ride from a quick 3-mile spin to a full 10-mile adventure.
Getting There
The main trailhead is located at Lick Creek Park in Germantown. Parking is available and free. The trail is well-marked with color-coded maps at key intersections. Download the Trailforks or MTB Project app before you go for the best offline navigation.
Best Time to Ride
Lick Creek is best ridden after a few dry days — the soil can become slippery after rain. Spring and fall offer the most comfortable temperatures. Summer riding is possible with an early start, as the tree canopy provides welcome shade.
